So this is what I can summarize during my research about ACT114A.
Act 114A actually a re fabrication from Evidence Act 1950. This so called "protect the citizen" Act has been debated and approved in parliament on April 2012. The ACT114A officially released to the country on 31 July 2012. From my point of view the ACT114A somehow can be a burden and yet be the only way to educated people to be more careful on what their posting on the internet.
However this act really bring more harm than good. For me as a student who were using wifi network will be at risk. This is due to if some hacker gain access to my wifi network and do some cyber crime, according to the ACT114A the one that will carry this burden will be mine due to my wifi network even the crime is not done by me.
This ACT114A for me is a burden because this act oppose and sometime accused people when the wrong doing is not done by them. Even the government say this act to protect the citizen for me is just some excuse to put people shut from freedom of speech.
As a student, this act must be concerned due to it's pro and cons. For me this act must thoroughly revised and discussed before it can be an amendment to the Evidence Act 1950. Government also must clearly specified what is actually ACT114A because a lot of citizen including me think this act is actually a burden and a trap to citizen.
Many of us using the so called 'Freedom of Speech' as an excuse to fully terminated this act.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm disagree with that because as for me, people now days are miss used the term of 'freedom of speech'.
Freedom of speech does not mean that you can easily condemn on people, issues, political view or anything without having to know the truth behind it. Today younger generation are easily influenced with some issues without fully investigated it then simply spread it to others. They used that issues to criticize, condemn and exaggerate the story, sometimes they also using harsh word to express their anger. This is not the true practice of the 'Freedom of Speech'.
In my opinion, the 'Freedom of Speech' is a way to express our opinion, correcting, give a suggestion, and critic in a manners way.
I'm agreed that the cabinet should revised again this Act 114A before fully enforces it to the citizens.

Well first thing, I'm grateful that I'm getting replies from you guys. basically the freedom of speech is overly abused this day. That point I agreed because this day a lot of people misused the freedom to stir up chaos in this nation.
DeleteFor me this act is a way of some people to mask and hide the truth from people. So this is unfair for those who seek truth behind every agenda. That's my opinion.
That's the worse thing about the internet, there's no boundaries. Anyone who's anyone can publish about anything. It can be the truth, half-truth or just plain lies. Adding to that, those irresponsible people are not easy to track, they will always hiding behind the veil of anonymity. Check the facts before publishing and stop slandering innocent victim.
ReplyDeleteWell that is true. The internet this day has no boundaries either for student or people because some of the content in the internet that we do not want to see got posted either via email or social networking. Thus this scenario can create a lot of false news regarding a lot of matter.
DeleteAlso current situation, a lot of user plainly believe on news that been posted to them rather then checking the facts about the news. Therefore checking the facts somehow is irrelevant this day due to laziness and stupidity of the user.
So sorry for my word but this is just my opinion.
To sure that the hacker won't be able to do cyber crime, it's advisable that the wifi network should always been putting a high security password.
